Alliance for Water Efficiency

Mary Ann Dickinson is President and CEO of the Alliance for Water Efficiency, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the efficient and sustainable use of water in the United States and Canada. Based in Chicago, the Alliance works with nearly 400 water utilities, water conservation professionals in business and industry, planners, regulators, and consumers. In 2014, the Alliance won the U.S. Water Prize in the non-profit category for its work. She is the Chair of the Efficient Urban Water Management Specialist Group for the International Water Association and has presented numerous papers internationally as well as in the United States.

NASA Jet Propulsion Lab

Often called the "Prophet of California climate", Patzert has been a scientist at the California Institute of Technology’s NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California since 1983. The author of many scientific and popular articles, Bill works with undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world and lectures at many local universities. A media favorite, he is often sought out by reporters and is regularly seen on local and national television representing NASA and JPL. In a recent article, he was named one of the West’s most influential individuals in dealing with water issues.

He is a graduate of Purdue University and went on to earn a Ph.D. in oceanography at the University of Hawaii. Bill began his career on the research faculty of the University of California’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif., and then moved to JPL. During his career, he has served as a consultant to many respected organizations including NASA, the U.S. Department of Commerce, United Nations and many scientific and environmental groups. He has received several awards for scientific accomplishments as well as communicating science to the public.

Brandon Goshi is the manager of Water Policy and Strategy at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. His expertise is in long-term strategy and defining approaches to maintain reliable water supplies for Southern California in the face of growing challenges and uncertainties. With Metropolitan for more than twenty years, Brandon now leads a team responsible for the planning and analysis of water supply, demand and storage portfolio. He oversees development of regionally-based water resource programs, policies and strategies for Metropolitan’s 5,200 square-mile service area with a population of nearly 19 million. Brandon has played a key role in the development of many of Metropolitan’s strategic policies, outlined in the Integrated Resources Plan, Regional Urban Water Management Plan, Water Surplus and Drought Management Plan, and Water Supply Allocation Plan.

Paul DiMaggio

Paul DiMaggio is a Production Manager at Suburban Water Systems. In this role, he is responsible for providing quality water in a cost effective way to 300,000 residents, maintaining and acquiring the company fleet consisting of 85 vehicles, and providing operational reports to various departments. He is also a board member of the San Gabriel Valley Water Association. Paul earned a BS in mechanical engineering from BYU-I, an MBA from CSUF, and a D2 and T2 certification from the State Water Resources Control Board. He enjoys reading, swimming, and teaching.

Michael Marelli

Vice President, Business Customer Division

Southern California Edison

Mike Marelli is vice president of the Business Customer Division at Southern California Edison (SCE). He is responsible for overseeing SCE’s relationships with its major industrial, commercial and governmental customers. In addition, he is responsible for leading cross functional initiatives including outage communication improvement efforts, streetlight strategies and efforts to stimulate business development.

Marelli joined SCE in 2004 and has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry in a variety of leadership roles in engineering, marketing, business development, wholesale energy markets and regulatory affairs.

Previously, Marelli was director of Strategic Planning at Edison International, leading the development of the company’s fiber strategy. In the regulatory group, he was the director of SCE’s General Rate Case (GRC), leading the development and presentation of the 2015 GRC through the extensive review and approval process at the California Public Utilities Commission. Prior to that, Marelli was director of Risk Control overseeing SCE’s Enterprise Risk Management Program and Energy Procurement Risk Management activities. He has also served in various Power Procurement roles at SCE, responsible for overseeing the negotiation and management of both renewable power purchase agreements and conventional power products for the company’s bundled customer power portfolio.

Before joining SCE, Marelli spent several years at Sempra International developing new businesses, including greenfield natural gas distribution companies. He worked four years in management consulting at PA Consulting Group, providing clients solutions to manage business challenges in the wholesale energy markets. Marelli has also worked for the Southern California Gas Company introducing new technologies to the market and securing new business opportunities.

Marelli earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical engineering from the University of California at Davis, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Over Mike’s 23 years of Utility and Energy Industry experience he has worked in SCE’s Account Management and Technical Support, Regulatory, Economic Development Services; Billing and Payments, and Customer Contact Centers.

He currently serves as Director of the Account Management teams serving SCE’s Government, Institutions, Agriculture and Water customers.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Irvine.

Kory is approaching his 30th year with Southern California Edison. He is the Manager of Facilities and Operations at the Energy Education Center – Irwindale where he provides leadership to approximately 30 individuals who work to make the facility an industry leader related to technology needs. Kory earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and a Master of Business Administration degree both from the University of Redlands.

Ron Ford manages the Hydraulic Services/Pump Test Department within SCE’s Business Customer Division. He has been with SCE for the last 15 years. His team provides pump testing and technical support for water agency, water district, city/county water, agricultural, and commercial/industrial pumping customers within SCE’s southern and eastern territories. Ron earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Redlands.

Amy Olson is an account manager in the Business Customer Division of Southern California Edison. She serves as a trusted energy and Edison advisor to customers in the water segment. Out of the 50,000 square miles of Edison territory, Amy assists customers in the Eastern region of the state with a wide range of sizes and challenges. She has worked at Edison for the past 10 years and enjoys assisting customers in gaining efficiencies and finding ways to stretch their energy budget.

James Pasmore

James Pasmore is an account manager with Southern California Edison's Government and Institutions sector. He graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from California State University, Fullerton. James joined SCE in 1998 as an account analyst, supporting the implementation of Integrated Demand Side Management programs for industrial customers. In his most recent role, he works closely with Southern California’s largest wholesale water and wastewater treatment agencies to leverage utility incentive programs to implement energy efficient solutions that save energy and money. He holds certifications for both Business Energy Professional and Certified Energy Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers.

These programs are funded by California utility ratepayers and administered by SCE under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission. Funding for these programs is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis until allocated funds are exhausted, or December 31, 2015 whichever comes first. These programs may be modified or terminated without prior notice. Additional terms and conditions apply.
